See Disturbing Photos of a School in Edo Where Students Sit on Bare Floor in Classrooms

In his 21st century age of development, one would never believe there is a Secondary School in Nigeria where students lack sufficient chairs and tables in classrooms.

The students sit on the bare ground in crowded classrooms and write on their notebooks incoveniently placed on their legs. The school painted in this light is in Edo state, south-south part of Nigeria where All Progressives Congress chieftain and former president of the Nigeria Labour Congress, Adams Oshiomhole has been the executive governor for about 8 years.

In the same vein, People's Democratic Party governorship candidate, Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu also lamented the state of formal education in Edo state stating that the present administration of Governor Adams Oshiomole has failed in the area of education.

Ize-Iyamu, delivering a lecture last Tuesday at the University of Benin, titled “State of Education in Edo: The Way Forward,” presented an historical narrative of the ‘’golden era of education” in the State and paid glowing tributes to the legacies of Dr. Samuel Osaigbovo Ogbemudia, late Professor Ambrose Ali, his father Chief Osayande Ize-Iyamu and others for their roles in developing education in the old Bendel State.

The PDP gubernatorial candidate however said that all of these have been laid waste by the Governor Adams Oshiomhole administration which he said lacks a policy on education, but has focused “largely or exclusively on re-roofing some selected urban and sub-urban schools for political sloganeering and propaganda.”
