Mourinho and Chelsea Finally Apologize to Sacked Team Doctor and Agree on Settlement Package...See Details

Former Chelsea team doctor Eva Carneiro leaves Croydon Employment Tribunal where she has reached a settlement with the club and Jose Mourinho

Jose Mourinho and Chelsea today agreed a humiliating huge pay-off for ex-club doctor, Eva Carneiro minutes before she was due to give explosive evidence against them.

Dr Carneiro had claimed Mourinho s*xually discriminated against her and called her the 'daughter of a whore' during a match before allegedly forcing her out of her 'dream job'.

Mourinho has refused to say sorry to his former staff doctor, and did not comment as he left the tribunal

Mourinho was due to give two days of evidence and faced an embarrassing dossier of witness statements and documents - including texts and emails - being made public.

Chelsea claimed yesterday that Dr Carneiro had betrayed the club, ignored Mourinho's instructions by treating a player on the pitch and was so hungry for fame she would sit behind him on TV.

The terms of the settlement will remain secret but the tribunal heard Chelsea offered £1.2million to silence Ms Carneiro, who they said made 'scandalous' claims about working for manager Jose Mourinho.

Dr Carneiro claims that she 'clearly heard' Jose call her a 'daughter of a whore' as she ran onto the pitch in an
incident that led to this touchline row, and eventually her exit from the club

But she rejected the money – more than four times her annual salary and the offer of her 'dream job' back.

Chelsea also gave Dr Carneiro an unreserved apology but crucially Mourinho refused to say sorry and grinned as he left the tribunal this afternoon.

In a statement issued on their club website, Chelsea said: 'Chelsea Football Club is pleased to announce that it has reached an agreement with Dr Carneiro which brings her employment tribunal proceedings against the club and Jose Mourinho to an end.

Jose Mourinho, left leaving the court, had unexpectedly arrived at the tribunal of the former Chelsea doctor,
Eva Carneiro, right leaving today, and the case ended shortly afterwards

'The club regrets the circumstances which led to Dr Carneiro leaving the club and apologises unreservedly to her and her family for the distress caused.

'We wish to place on record that in running onto the pitch Dr Carneiro was following both the rules of the game and fulfilling her responsibility to the players as a doctor, putting their safety first.

'Dr Carneiro has always put the interests of the club's players first. Dr Carneiro is a highly competent and professional sports doctor. She was a valued member of the club's medical team and we wish her every success in her future career.

'Jose Mourinho also thanks Dr Carneiro for the excellent and dedicated support she provided as First Team Doctor and he wishes her a successful career.'
