Chief Onupka Nwite, a popular native doctor, was at the weekend reportedly murdered by suspected cultists in his shrine in Ndulo Ukwuagba Ngbo, Ohaukwu local government area of Ebonyi state.
According to Vanguard, Nwite was killed at about 8:00pm Friday, in front of his shrine, causing panic in the area. The suspects took to their heels after the dastardly act.
The late native doctor was said to be an expert in preparing charms for cultists in the area, which they use for protection against rival cult group(s) during clashes.
Son of the deceased, Nwabueze Onukpa alleged that one Abacha, Parity and their gang killed his father. He was said to have reported the matter to Ohaukwu Police Division and the Development Centre Coordinator even as he appealed to security agents to bring the culprits to book.
The man also reported the matter to his kindred in Ukwuagba who mobilized youth and went on rampage, burning houses of some persons suspected to be involved in the killing of the native doctor.
When contacted, state Police Public Relations Officer, ASP George Okafor said he was on a trip and could not give needed information.
“I am not with my record because I am travelling. I will be back tomorrow please” he said.
